Donna Hudon – RMT – Registered Massage Therapist
Donna began her career in the health care field at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1994 and has been practicing as an RMT since she graduated. Donna is an RMT who has a strong osteopathic approach to manual treatment. She has spent the past 10 years in Whistler working in an academic clinical setting in a busy physiotherapy clinic, treating individuals of various athletic levels for acute and chronic sports injuries as well as working with chronic postural and ergonomic issues.
Like many other therapists Donna’s quest to understand the human body stemmed from trying to manage some of her own injuries. After practicing massage therapy for 7 years she decided to enroll in an Osteopathic Manual Therapy program to help her fine tune her assessment and treatment skills. To her surprise she gained so much more than she could have ever expected from this training, the perspective of looking at the body as a functional unit. Taking into account the mobility of all the tissues of the body, not only the Musculoskeletal system but the Fascias, Viscera/Organs and the Cranio-sacral system and looking at how they can affect and be effected by one another. Over the past 5 years Donna attended the Canadian College of Osteopathy and graduated in May of 2009.
Donna enjoys the education aspect of her career. One of her goals during a treatment is to ensure all of her patients learn more about their body and understand how they can assist in their healing, prevent other injuries and improve their overall health and well being.
Leslie Williams Registered Massage Therapist
I am a Mom and a Gramma. It just seems natural to me to be a caregiver. That and an interest in the human body lead me to pursue a career as a Registered Massage Therapist. I graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1995 and have been in practice for the last 15 years. While still in training, I was introduced to a massage modality called Manual Lymph Drainage. Immediately I felt a strong connection to this form of treatment and pursued all levels of MLD from the Vodder School International to become a Certified Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist. Starting my practice as a Registered Massage Therapist, I was able to utilize this modality along with more traditional massage techniques (Swedish and Fascial), with patients who were suffering from a variety of illnesses and physical conditions. Some of the conditions I treat are: Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatique, Pain and Stress related disorders, Headaches, Venous Insufficiency, Wound Healing, Lymphedema, Whiplash, Arthritis, Post Cancer and many more. Post Graduate training in Systemic Deep Tissue therapy also gives me the ability to work deeply and effectively to relax tense muscles.
For several years I have also taught at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. I have assisted in the Hydrotherapy Course ( teaching how to take Blood Pressure) and the Basic Manual Lymph Drainage Course. One weekend every month, I instruct prospective massage therapy students in the “Introduction to Swedish Massage Course”.
My goal is that I hope to alleviate my patient’s pain and dysfunction by employing a variety of techniques that are suited to the presenting condition.
